Our public defender offices must be fully funded and staffed
Nearly 60 years after the landmark Supreme Court ruling in Gideon v. Wainwright, we still see public defender offices across the nation grapple with providing effective counsel as they struggle with the weight of excessive workloads and increasingly complex government bureaucracies.
