Proposed law would allow suits for minors’ tech addiction

“It’s an election year. That means we are seeing a flood of bills that all claim to protect the children,” said Eric Goldman, associate dean for research and professor with Santa Clara University School of Law.

Proponents of a new bill say they “shouldn’t have to put in law” that internet companies shouldn’t addict children to their products. But a more pressing question might be, “can they?”
