Molson Coors owes $56M for infringing, jury rules

Molson Coors was ordered to pay $56 million to Stone Brewing Co. for trademark infringement. A jury found that Molson Coors did not willfully infringe on the trademark but still owed a fraction of the demands.

A jury ordered MolsonCoors to pay $56 million to Stone Brewing Co. for infringing its incontestable trademark STONE® brand.

MolsonCoors, under the name MillerCoors in the United States, has been selling its Keystone brand beer using advertising that emphasized the “STONE” part of the name and frequently omitted “KEY” from much of the marketing.
