Newsom denies interfering as agency suing Activision loses 2 attorneys

Lawyers representing the two attorneys have not given further explanation about why they both left the Activision lawsuit earlier in the month.

Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office denied reports Wednesday that he was interfering with the state Department of Fair Employment and Housing by firing its legal counsel over the handling of its workplace misconduct lawsuit against video game company Activision Blizzard Inc.

Newsom’s communications director, Erin Mellon, wrote in an email, “Claims of interference by our office are categorically false.”
