Bills that aid Newsom’s homeless initiative advance in Assembly

“This is not a new concept. There are more than 400 homeless courts and other collaborative courts across the state of California,” Assemblyman Al Muratsuchi, D-Torrance.

The Assembly Judiciary Committee passed two bills Tuesday that would appear to advance Gov. Gavin Newsom’s Community Assistance, Recovery and Empowerment Court plan. But the bills’ authors say these efforts were well underway when the governor announced his plan last month.
