Judges issue orders to show cause in Potter Handy ADA suits
U.S. District Judge Vince Chhabria asked the law firm in more than 30 of its cases to detail its clients’ plans in sworn declarations to return to the businesses they accuse of experiencing discrimination at and provide detailed allegations of the discrimination the plaintiffs suffered in each case.




Judges in the Northern District of California are fighting back against the law firm Potter Handy LLP, which allegedly filed thousands of fraudulent, boilerplate lawsuits against small businesses accusing them of violating the Americans with Disabilities Act and California’s Unruh Civil Rights Act.
