Kavanaugh appears to be deciding vote in religious liberty case

High school students will feel pressure to participate in the prayer because they might lose their starting position, even if that never happens, Justice Brett Kavanaugh said during oral arguments Monday.

A 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals decision against a high school football coach who sued after losing his job for praying after games is all but certain to be overturned after U.S. Supreme Court arguments Monday.

The only question is how broad the ruling will be. Kennedy v. Bremerton School District, 21-418 (S. Ct., filed Sept. 14, 2021).
