Family appeals over qualified immunity for Fresno officers, ambulance crew

Neil Gehlawat, trial attorney at Taylor & Ring LLP, on behalf of the family of Joseph Perez, filed an appeal April 12 with the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals seeking to vacate a grant of summary judgment handed down by Judge Anthony W. Ishii in the Eastern District of California on March 18.

A new appeal to the 9th Circuit is the latest attempt to shake the foundation on which the legal shield of sovereign immunity rests.
