Poseidon Water won’t appeal denial of desalination plant plans

“Poseidon is trying to capitalize and make 50 million gallons of water per day and then sell that to ratepayers. They’re trying to make a profit off the ocean,” commented Sean Bothwell, executive director and attorney at California CoastKeeper Alliance, and one of those who opposed the desalination plant.

The Poseidon Water Co. says it won’t appeal the California Coastal Commission’s denial of its $1.4 billion desalination plant in Huntington Beach, in development for 20 years. But the decision calls into question several other proposed plants likely to come up for discussion by the commission soon.
