Appeal panel asked to find whether CJP ever referred a judge for criminal prosecution

While the current case appears unlikely to succeed, it comes amid growing calls for transparency by the state judicial watchdog agency. The new Committee to Review the Operations and Structure of the Commission met for the first time last month.

The Commission on Judicial Performance doesn't refer criminal behavior by judges to the California Attorney General for prosecution, a plaintiffs' attorney argued before the 3rd District Court of Appeal on Friday in a case that began with a dispute over a mobile home park.
