Apple suit jump starts facial recognition patent adjudication

At issue is Apple’s use of a program that allows a user to unlock their iPhone or iPad by storing information related to its facial recognition technology.

Apple’s legal team is on the offensive, filing a lawsuit for a declaratory judgment against a patent holder who seeks to have allegations of infringement adjudicated before a new lawsuit could be filed against the company.
