US justices restore injunction of Texas social media law

The law, HB 20, would allow Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton or individual citizens to sue technology giants such as Meta Platforms Inc., Alphabet Inc. or Twitter Inc. if they moderate their sites “based on the viewpoint of the user or another person.”

Silicon Valley technology companies scored a victory at the U.S. Supreme Court Tuesday, at least for now, when a narrow majority of justices restored a preliminary injunction blocking a Texas law aimed at regulating social media sites.
