Fierce disagreement as Hastings board meets on renaming

Proposed UC San Francisco College of Law name drew rebuke from Round Valley Yuki tribal members.

A meeting of the UC Hastings College of the Law Board of Directors turned contentious on Friday. Several tribal members and their supporters urged the board to adopt a name in the Yuki language: “Powen’om,” meaning “one people.”
