Professor Eastman mostly loses documents fight with Jan. 6 community

U.S. Judge David O. Carter ruled that 149 documents must be turned over to panel investigating Capitol insurrection, but 10 can be withheld.

A federal judge in Santa Ana cited by U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney, R-WY, in her opening remarks at the Jan. 6 committee hearing rejected a bid by former Chapman University Fowler School of Law dean John C. Eastman to withhold some documents from the committee.

But on Saturday, U.S. District Judge David O. Carter did agree that 10 documents should be withheld “because they pertained to a legal filing” as part of a lawsuit by President Donald Trump...
