Senate committee OKs Sacramento US attorney; advances judge nomination

Acting U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert of the Eastern District of California got easy approval; vote on nomination of Fresno County Judge Ana I. de Alba for a seat on the Eastern District is expected next week.

Acting U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert of the Eastern District of California got easy approval from the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday to get the job on a permanent basis.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Senate voted to cut off debate on the nomination of Fresno County Superior Court Judge Ana I. de Alba for a seat on the Eastern District. A final vote on de Alba’s nomination is expected next week.
