Utilities fined over guidelines for power shutoffs in wildfires

There were 26 shutoff events across the service of all four utilities. The CPUC’s Safety and Enforcement Division said it found multiple violations of the guidelines.

The California Public Utilities Commission on Thursday proposed fining three utilities a total of $22 million over power shutoffs to prevent wildfires.

Pacific Gas and Electric Company would be fined $12 million, Southern California Edison $10 million, and San Diego Gas & Electric $24,000.
