First Latina confirmed to seat on Eastern District court
“We welcome Judge de Alba to the federal trial bench with open arms!” Chief District Judge Kimberly J. Mueller of the Eastern District of California said in a new release.
Fresno County Superior Court Judge Ana Isabel de Alba was confirmed Tuesday to a seat on the federal court for the Eastern District of California. She will be the first Latina to sit on the court.
De Alba was confirmed on a 53-45 U.S. Senate vote, leaving one vacancy on the federal court in the Eastern District. She will fill the seat of District Judge Morrison J. England Jr., who retired on Dec. 17, 2019.
