California officials, attorneys gear up for abortion legal battles

California Gov. Gavin Newsom, joined by Democratic governors in Washington and Oregon, vowed the states would “build a West Coast offense to protect patients’ access to reproductive care.”

Abortion remains legal in California despite the U.S. Supreme Court’s Friday ruling overturning Roe v. Wade, but officials and attorneys are gearing up for upcoming legal and political battles they have never experienced before.
