Jury awards $65 M to Santa Clarita water agency over pollution

“Judgment is entered ... for negligence and public nuisance in the amount of $7 million in past damages and $68.3 million in reasonable restoration or repair costs,” wrote U.S. District Judge Stanley Blumenfeld.

A jury awarded more than $65 million to the Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency, putting an end to 20 years of litigation against Whittaker Corp., an aerospace conglomerate accused of polluting groundwater by mishandling materials for making ammunition in the Los Angeles County area since World War II.
