4 ex-Navy officers convicted of taking bribes from Singapore defense contractor

The case is noteworthy for the accusation that a U.S. government Defense Criminal Investigative Service special agent attempted to bribe a prostitute $5,000 to testify against the defendants. She declined, but the accusation led to the judge pausing the criminal trial to question the agent on the stand and the defense filing a motion for mistrial.

A federal jury in San Diego convicted four former Navy officers this week of accepting bribes from a Singaporean defense contractor, while the jurors were unable to decide about a fifth ex-officer.
