Bar wants to disbar former chief executive over conduct at agency

The bar is accusing Joe Dunn of misrepresentation and breach of fiduciary duty over his statements to the Board of Trustees concerning the state Supreme Court’s position on legislation and funding for a January 2014 State Bar trip to Mongolia.

An attorney representing Joseph L. Dunn, the State Bar of California’s former executive director, accused the agency of seeking to disbar him as vengeance for their long legal battles since he was fired in 2014.

“This is a concerted effort to take down Joe as payback, period,” said Mark J. Geragos, a partner with Geragos & Geragos, in a phone interview Friday.
