San Franisco’s new DA already faces critics and election

Brooke A. Jenkins was sworn in Friday and critics pounced on her record. She must stand for election in November.

Brooke A. Jenkins was sworn in as San Francisco’s new district attorney on Friday. But she immediately finds herself in the same position as predecessor, Chesa Boudin — facing a tough election battle to keep her seat.

Jenkins will need to win in November to keep the job for the last full year of the four-year term Boudin won in 2019. She will almost certainly face a well-known progressive challenger, whether it’s Boudin or someone else.
