Circuit reverses ruling on fine over Picasso art reproduction

The fine stemmed from a dispute between Wofsy and Yves Sicre de Fontbrune, former director of French art journal Cahiers d’Art. De Fontbrune owned the rights to the Zervos Catalogue, a collection of photographs of Picasso’s artwork.

A 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel on Wednesday reversed a district judge’s ruling that a California art dealer can avoid paying a fine over the reproduction of paintings by Pablo Picasso on public policy grounds.
