French energy giant sues Chinese solar panel maker over price hikes

TotalEnergy Renewables alleges Trina Solar demanded an extra $40 million on top of the parties’ agreed upon $300 million contract for solar panels.

TotalEnergy Renewables USA, a California based subsidiary of French green energy provider Total Energies SE, filed a lawsuit in Alameda County against Trina Solar Co., a Chinese solar panel manufacturer based in Fremont, accusing it of using the force majeure clause of its contract to dramatically charge more and provide less during government-ordered economic shutdowns.
