Avoiding conflicts over stocks is topic at 9th Circuit meeting

"We want to avoid missteps in this area because it reflects on public confidence in the judiciary," said 5th U.S. Circuit of Appeals Judge Jennifer Walker Elrod.

BIG SKY, Montana – Judges at the 9th Circuit Judicial Conference were advised Tuesday on how to comply with new regulations that followed a report that 131 federal judges violated judicial ethics by hearing cases involving companies in which they or family members held stock.

“We want to avoid missteps in this area because it reflects on public confidence in the judiciary,” said 5th U.S. Circuit of Appeals Judge Jennifer Walker Elrod.
