Newsom aping Texas with gun law displeases many legal experts

SB 1327, which will go into effect in January, was immediately criticized by not only Second Amendment rights advocates decrying another effort by California to pass more gun legislation but constitutional experts on both sides of the political divide, worrying this is the latest in a trend of decaying rights.

Shortly after Gov. Gavin Newsom signed into law Senate Bill 1327, allowing Californians to sue gunmakers, in copying Texas SB 8, which created a private right of action for individuals to sue those who aid in an abortion, constitutional experts on both ends of the political divide lamented a tit-for-tat arms race among states and gun rights groups said the bill will be challenged quickly in court.
