Republican-led states seek stay on San Francisco judge’s species protection ruling
The goal may be to tee up the issue for the U.S. Supreme Court where their case might receive a better reception. They are buoyed by a decision in April in which the high court let stand curbs to the Clean Water Act implemented under President Donald Trump.




Buoyed by several recent conservative victories in the U.S. Supreme Court, a group of intervenors have appealed a major Endangered Species Act decision.
A group of states led by Republicans have joined agriculture industry groups in asking the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to stay a San Francisco judge’s order that invalidated a Trump administration rule that weakened protections for certain species.
