Income tax audits: Fear the Franchise Tax Board, not the IRS

The California FTB has no corollary to IRS Appeals. That is because it is unconcerned about having the 1,500 Superior Courts grinding to a halt.

Advertisements on T.V., radio and the internet warn "...the IRS is one of the most feared agencies in the United States because of its ability to seize assets and garnish wages."
