Educational software breach brings class action, other lawsuits

“This is a case about the important privacy rights of students who have had to provide sensitive personal information in order to use educational tools that were not safeguarded with appropriate cybersecurity protocols,” said plaintiffs’ attorney Matthew B. George of Kaplan Fox in Oakland.

A data breach at educational software company Illuminate Education Inc. has led to a proposed class action, and other litigation, alleging the company didn’t inform students and parents that their private data was leaked.
