Billing clients for training touted by some foes of bar exams
“It would certainly take time and supervision to make sure that the clients are getting adequate representation and I don’t see any problem with law firms being compensated for that time,” said Eric S. Boorstin, an ethics attorney with Horvitz & Levy.




With legal professionals across the state wary of proposals to license attorneys who haven’t taken the bar exam, a California State Bar official was given a suggestion at an ABA-sponsored conference that lawyers might be persuaded to support the changes they have almost unanimously opposed if they know they can bill clients for the time they spend training such licensees.
