Few US judges have ‘economic justice’ background, group says
“President Biden has taken exceptional steps to add professional and demographic diversity to the federal bench, but there is still a significant gap when it comes to judges with backgrounds representing working people and consumers in their pursuit of economic justice,” said Rakim H.D. Brooks, president of Alliance for Justice.




Few federal circuit judges have a background representing labor unions, workers, consumers and legal aid work, according to a report by the Alliance for Justice, a Washington, D.C. group that works to get more liberal judges on the federal judiciary.
According to the report, 68% of active circuit court judges are former corporate attorneys, while 28% are former prosecutors. Judges with these backgrounds are much more likely to rule against...
