Desilu Studios founder has got some ‘splainin’ to do

According to the SEC complaint, Charles B. Hensley, founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of Desilu Studios Inc. raised more than $596,000 by assuring investors he was reviving the brand name in major film and television production deals, including merchandising and theme parks. Instead, the money received went to a bank account to cover personal expenses.

A would-be venture capitalist falsely told investors he obtained the rights to the Desilu brand, the name used by Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz’s company, Desilu Productions Inc., famous for TV shows such as “I Love Lucy” and “Star Trek,” alleges criminal and civil complaints filed by the U.S. Department of Justice and Securities and Exchange Commission.
