Bill to put new name for Hastings into law clears hurdle

“Under the anticipated amendments, … once in effect, we will be known and referred to as University of California, College of the Law, San Francisco,” John K. DiPaolo, Hastings general counsel and secretary, said by email on Friday.

Lawmakers and school officials have settled on a new name for UC Hastings College of Law. Meanwhile, a bill to put that name into effect has cleared a legislative hurdle, but the school is also preparing for a potential legal challenge.
