Gun show ban breaks free speech rights, says lawsuit
“The First Amendment protects not only the right of free speech, but also ‘the right of the people peaceably to assemble,’” wrote Ana M. Barvir of Michel & Associates PC in the complaint, which aims to restore gun shows at the Orange County Fair & Event Center.




The California Rifle and Pistol Association filed its second challenge this month to a state gun law, this time saying that a 2021 statute banning gun shows at the Orange County Fairgrounds violates the First Amendment right to political and commercial free speech.
