Discovery disputes set for review in Amplify oil spill case
“Amplify is a matter of weeks away from substantially completing its document review and productions,” wrote defense attorney Christopher W. Keegan of Kirkland & Ellis. “Yet the Beijing [ship] defendants are just beginning the discovery process as it relates to the merits of this case and continue to slow-play discovery, despite the [special masters’ panel] SMP repeated orders that discovery must proceed.”




A panel reviewing the consolidated class actions over the 2021 Huntington Beach oil spill are set to discuss discovery disputes by the plaintiffs and the oil company in separate hearings, one scheduled for Friday and the other on Aug. 25, as they head toward trial next year.
The case pertains to Amplify Energy Corp., Beta Operating Co. LLC and San Pedro Bay Pipeline Co., which are blamed for the spillage at the shore after one of the ships...
