$85M wrongful death award against sheriff is reversed

Evidence didn’t support large award, U.S. District Judge Marilyn Huff in San Diego wrote.

A federal judge ordered a new damages trial in the wrongful death case brought by the family of a man killed by San Diego County deputy sheriffs, saying the evidence didn’t support an $85 million award handed up by a jury in March.
