Sephora 1st company AG to sanction under privacy law

Attorney General Rob Bonta vows to go after more companies who violate state privacy law.

Attorney General Rob Bonta put online retailers on notice Wednesday, announcing beauty products retailer Sephora USA Inc. is the first company his department would sanction under the California Consumer Privacy Act.

Sephora agreed to pay $1.2 million to settle the action and insisted it had done nothing wrong.

But even as Bonta said he would take off “the kid gloves,” the enforcement landscape could shift again ...
