13 states file amici supporting California’s pork producer law

The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear a challenge to the state’s ban on the sale of pork derived from breeding pigs confined in spaces smaller than 24 square feet.

Thirteen states have signed on to an amicus brief in support of the California Department of Food and Agriculture against a U.S. Supreme Court appeal by pork producers who say the state’s strict regulations on livestock confinement violate the Constitution’s dormant commerce clause.
