$13M deal would end misdemeanors over oil spill

As part of the agreement, Amplify Energy Corp. and its subsidiaries would be required to improve training for all employees in responding to pipeline leaks, install a new leak detection system, and take other steps.

A Texas oil company and two subsidiaries have agreed to plead guilty to three misdemeanor negligence counts each in connection with an offshore leak in the San Pedro Bay Pipeline last year, federal prosecutors announced Friday.
