Meta settles case over Cambridge Analytica, sanctions might follow
The class of plaintiffs agreed to settle claims that the company violated state and federal law by facilitating the data harvesting practices of the political consulting firm Cambridge Analytica LLC in a scandal they claim influenced the 2016 presidential election.




Meta Platforms’ Facebook settled a data privacy class action in the midst of a discovery dispute that could still result in sanctions from U.S. District Judge Vince Chhabria for the social media giant and its attorneys from Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP.
