Tenants picketing over eviction is public issue covered by anti-SLAPP

“The Court of Appeal erred in holding that the demonstration outside Geiser’s home did not constitute speech in connection with a public issue under the anti-SLAPP statute’s catchall provision,” Justice Goodwin H. Liu wrote for the unanimous court.

The state Supreme Court unanimously voted on Monday to reverse a 2nd District Court of Appeal judgment in a long-running anti-SLAPP case, ruling in favor of respondents who picketed a real estate flipper’s business and residence in protest of an eviction order.
