Amplify to pay $17.9M in plea of criminal charges over spill

In a news release after he and Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer announced the deal to collect $4.9 million for the six misdemeanor guilty pleas, Attorney General Rob Bonta also referred to the actions by the ships.

Amplify Energy Corp. pleaded guilty Thursday to six state and county misdemeanors, as well as three federal misdemeanor negligence counts settled late last month, and agreed to pay a total of $17.9 million for the 2021 oil spill in Huntington Beach that the company blames on ships breaking its pipeline.
