Injunction against State Bar denied in data breach lawsuit

“The plaintiffs’ claim of irreparable harm is based on a fear of retaliation and a lessened ability to seek damages in this litigation,” wrote U.S. Magistrate Judge Douglas F. McCormick. He found the plaintiffs had not provided evidence to support their assertion.

A federal magistrate judge dismissed a motion for a preliminary injunction against the State Bar after the plaintiffs asked the court to stop the agency from potentially filing new public disciplinary charges on past infractions in light of an internally caused data breach.
