Foreign spies abound at Twitter, whistleblower says

Peiter Zatko, Twitter Inc.'s former security chief, told Congress that the social media company has hired agents of India and the People's Republic of China. A former Twitter employee was recently convicted of providing internal information to the government of Saudi Arabia.

Peiter Zatko, Twitter Inc.'s former security chief turned whistleblower, testified Tuesday to Congress that his former company was more focused on short-term financial goals to care much about the presence of foreign agents in the company.

Twitter has hired agents of India and the People's Republic of China, Zatko said, in the former case to monitor negotiations between the San Francisco company and one of India's major political parties.
