El Segundo to sue LA over raw sewage spill into Santa Monica Bay

El Segundo Mayor Drew Boyle has declared a state of emergency and plans to file its own lawsuit against the City of Los Angeles, which is likely to be joined with one already filed by residents.

More than a year after 17 million gallons of raw sewage were spilled from a water treatment plant into Santa Monica Bay, fetid odors more than 2 miles away can be smelled in El Segundo air and the residents – who filed a lawsuit earlier this year, are complaining that the problem persists.
