Judicial Council OKs funds for special advocates, technology

“We’ve demonstrated that the judicial branch can make great use of technology funding,” said Judge Kyle Brodie of the San Bernardino Superior Court during the Technology Committee’s presentation. “Our projects have dramatically increased the level of service to the public.”

The Judicial Council of California approved more than 30 court funding items during an open meeting Wednesday, including $20 million in Court Appointed Special Advocate program grant funding for family law court reporters, plus $12.5 million for the Technology Committee. It also OK’d $10.3 million for new allocation methodology in the ongoing General Fund to make up for loss of fee revenue to trial courts due to the repeal of administrative fees.
