FBI agent ‘monetized his position’, jury is told

The now-former agent, Babak Broumand, took bribes in the form of money and luxurious parties, a motorcycle and escorts from a lawyer associated with the Armenian Mafia, Assistant U.S. Attorney Juan M. Rodriguez said in an opening statement.

An FBI agent developed a close relationship with a Beverly Hills lawyer in a scheme aimed at “monetizing his position” in federal law enforcement, a prosecutor told a jury on Tuesday.

The now-former agent, Babak Broumand, took bribes in the form of money and luxurious parties, a motorcycle and escorts, Assistant U.S. Attorney Juan M. Rodriguez said in an opening statement.
