Nominee to Northern District of California clears committee

Araceli Martinez-Olguin jumped ahead of others nominated by President Joe Biden, such as U.S. Magistrate Judge Andrew G. Schopler of San Diego and San Diego County Superior Court Judge James E. Simmons Jr., who were nominated before her.

Araceli Martinez-Olguin, supervising attorney of the National Immigration Law Center and a former ACLU lawyer, was considered by the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday for a vacancy on the Northern District of California court.
