Gun groups challenge California law that mimics Texas abortion law
The lawsuit, filed Monday in the Southern District of California, argues the statute, signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom, “singles out firearms advocates’ protected activity and seeks to choke off their access to the courts” due to fee-shifting provisions in the law.




Gun rights groups and their attorneys have filed a challenge to a California law that allows individuals to bring private lawsuits against weapons manufacturers in a statute that copies Texas’ SB 8, which shut down abortions in that state.
