Late Indian law expert didn’t misrepresent himself, judge rules

U.S. District Judge Robert S. Huie addressed six motions in a case dealing with an alleged breach of attorney-client contract between the Quechan Tribe and Temecula-based Williams & Cochrane. While Huie allowed the breach of contract claims between the plaintiffs and defendants to move on, he also granted summary judgment to the tribe on breach of implied covenant allegations and to the late Robert Rosette on a false advertising claim.

Federal Indian law expert Robert A. Rosette, who died on Sept. 17, did not falsely represent his accomplishments to cause the Fort Yuma Quechan Tribe to violate a previous contract with attorneys hired to negotiate a gaming compact with the State of California, ruled a federal judge in San Diego.
